Mercy sighed,as she finshed her meal, and gathered her things. "I'm..gonna head up for the night"she said,as she left the great hall, and started for the Gryffindor Common room. Once she had put her things in a corner, she started out of the room,and down a secret staircase she'd found, that lead out to the grounds near Hagrid's hut. The girl sighed,as she sat in the shadows,as a pair of golden eyes was soon watching the night life.

Harry was already comfortably snoring in his bed with all thoughts about getting a head start on finishing his hw was out the window.

The wolf snarled,watching as a black dog darted past. The twilight grey wolf followed silently, eyes glittering.

Sirius's ear swivled back towars the sound of a snarl. He wasn't sure if it was in his own mind or if somebody was watching him. These days it was hard to tell, insanity seemed to drive through his mind at times be the thought of revenge brought him back to reality. He was out in the open and it was no time to stop until he was under cover again. He quickened his pace, his large black paws making not a sound against the ground. He stopped only when he was under the cover of the large trees of the Forbiden Forest. He sat, his eyes wandering over to the womping willow. his tail twitched.

What.. is he doing...it'll kill him..the wolf thought, as she followed him silently, her eyes glittering. Knowing he'd probably be able to understand her,she darted closer to him."WHo are you,and why, are you on the grounds of Hogwarts"She growled,her eyes glittering,as she bared her teeth.

Sirius nearly jumped out of his flea bitten pelt (being on the run was not kind to him). He turned to face the wolf and let his hackles along his neck rise. It was best to be guarded now with what he said, anything he said could destroy what he had been working for. "The matter of who i am is no concern to you and i am on the grounds to complete a mission that i have vowed to complete 13 years ago." he spoke making sure his fangs showed, hoping to scare the wolf off.

"And that's supposed to scare me"SHe growled,lunging. "I have a hunch as to who you are"she grinned.

Sirius glared, dodging the wolf's lunge. With a whisk of his tail he leapt into the depths of the forbidden forest, his skinny frame stretching and compressing as he ran, his paws thudding against the ground. He didn't have time to fool around it was that damn rat he wanted.

The wolf snarled,as she crept into the forest,and gazed up at the moon,tipping her head back,letting out a mornful howl. Padding towards the castle,the wolf seemed to vanish up the staircase,as Mercy ran to the common room,and then up to the girl's dorm,as she flopped down on her bed.

Sirius stopped running and pricked his ears as he heard Mercy's Mournful howl, feeling a little sorry he creapt back to the edge of the forest towards the womping willow. Darting quickly between the willow's thrashing limbs he pressed the knot and slipped through the roots to where he and his friends used to hide out with Moony.

"Damn," Sirius cursed to himself as he crept down the low narrow tunnel, "Why'd I have to run into a cursed wolf on tonight of all nights?"

Why did he have to come...what could he gain by coming to the school..and where the hell have I seen him before.... she thought as she rolled onto her side, and soon fell asleep.

Making himself comfortable, Sirius curled beside a broken chair, he dare not change back to normal, not when he was so close...Soon he was asleep but his ears remained pricked for any unwelcome visiters. 

"Harry, Harry" WOod called, the enxt morning. He wanted to talk to Harry and Mercy, about the upcoming Quidditch game.

"eh?" Harry said jerking out of zoning out. He hadn't gotten as much sleep as he wanted last night as he was dreaming about a large black dog all night long.

"Do you have a minute? I need to talk to you and Mercy"Wood said, as Mercy looked up from her food. "W..why me"she asked, as Wood grinned. "I heard about how good you played at your last school" he said.

HArry, looking incredibly disgrunteled, crossed his arms across his chest. "Why did you call me down too if you were just going to talk to Mercy?" Getting no sleep and waking up early had put him in a bad mood.

"Because I wanted to ask you if it was alright, if Mercy was our seeker in the next match which is against Slytherin..."Wood said.

Harry coudln't believe his ears. "but..." he started to protest.

Wood put his hand up. "It's just for this one game. I want to see how she does. If she does well, she'll be a sub, for when you can't play"He said calmly, as Mercy hung her head.

Harry gritted his teeth not wanting to hurt Mercy even though he felt incredibly invaded. Seeking was the one thing he looked forward to, the one thing he was even remotely good at. "Whatever." he finally said. "If that's it i'm going in for breafast, Wood."

"I'll..see you guys later"Mercy said softly,as she turned on her heel, and started for the quidditch pitch. Wood sighed,nodding. Mercy glanced at Lupin,clearly upset that she'd hurt Harry's feelings, before heading to practice alone. Thudding could be heard, as she did hit the ground after chasing a golf ball she'd spelled to act like a snitch.

"See ya." Harry said storming back to the Great Hall and sat down next to Hermione and Ron. He grabed a few pieces of bacon and thrust them onto his plate a little too forcefully.

"Harry what's wrong.."Ron asked, seeing how adjitated Harry was. What had happened, he thought.

Mercy sighed,as she kicked off, and raced after the golf ball,eyes glittering with tears.

"Nothing." Harry said grudingly. He liked Mercy and it wasn't her fault but he coudln't help but feel a little mad. he took a bite of his eggs so that he didnt' have to answer Ron. He found he didn't have to when a girl about their age was escorted into the Great Hall by Professor McGonangal. Harry swallowed quickly. "Hey i think that's the new girl i was telling you guys about last time."

Ron blinked,"you think she'll be put in our house?"he asked, finshing his breakfast. Mercy stopped, a couple hours later, as she went to the locker room, and along with the other three girls, got changed into the robes that Wood had made for her. "DOn't worry Mercy, you'll do fine"he said, with a smile. She gulped, hearing the crowd in the stands.

"Looks like it other wise i don't think McGonagle will be leading her to the Gryffindor table." Harry said.

Ron blinked, "Isn't the match starting soon?"Ron pointed out, as Hermione nodded. "Yeah..it is"she said. 

"You guys go ahead." Harry said not wanting to be reminded again that it wasn't he to beat the Slytherin team. "Tell me how it went." He got up to go back to teh common rooms but Professor McGonagle stopped him.

"Aren't you going to the match Potter?" she asked.

"Wood got Mercy to play this time, i'm going back to the common rooms." McGonagle nodded.

"Well i'd like you to meet Dawn Davis. She's the new Gryffindor, she just transfered. I'll award you 20 house points to show her around" Harry nodded as Mcgonagle walked away.

Hermione sighed, "She'd probably have wanted him to be there.."she said, as she half dragged Ron to the stadiums as they sat with Hagrid and the other Gryyfindors. "And the players are out"Lee Jordan called over the PA system, as he blinked. "I've been handed a note, Subbing for Potter this match is a new student, Merciline Shivak"he said, as Mercy sighed,taking off, as she circled the pitch. "I want a nice clean game" Hooch said, mostly to the slytherins. "From all of you"she said firmly. "And they're off"Lee shouted. Mercy took to the sky,and hovered above the pitch, watching for the small glint of gold.

Dawn had dark hair with dark gray-blue eyes and Harry immediately got hte sense that this girl woudln't talk unless she had to. Feeling a little irritated at her silence Harry walked her around Hogwarts. Dawn only nodded slightly and shook her head at Harry's questions.

Streaking upwards, Mercy started chasing something. She reached out,climbing higher, as ice crystals formed on her goggles, and clothes. She flinched, seeing dementors on both sides. No.. I h...have toshe thought,as she started plummeting to the ground. "And.. it seems that the gryffindor seeker is ... not in control of her broom"Lee shouted,as the crowd flinched, when Mercy slammed into the ground.

Dawn and Harry walked around the school in silence. Harry having found nothing more to say noticed his thoughts straying back to the Quidditch pitch. He wondered how Mercy was doing. He hoped that Slytherin woudln't win. he tunred to Dawn. "There is a Quidditch game going on right now, i'll show you there." Dawn nodded and followed him.

"Is she ok?" "She took a hard hit.." a couple students murmered. "Where the hell is the snitch"One of the Slytherin students shouted. "That's.. actually a good question"Lee said,as the students shrieked, as the dementors swooped down,one flying towards Mercy,who lay on the ground, not moving. 'it's....r.ight..h.here'she whispered,raising her hand, as she opened it a bit, to reveal the snitch flitting in her hand. (Just as Harry walks into the pitch too ^^)

seeing people surrounding what seemed to be Mercy laying on the floor Harry rushed foward. "Mercy! are you alright?!" he said trying ti ignore the cold the Dementors brought with them. Dawn appeared by his side not knowing what else to do looking lost in her unfamiliar surroundings. Harry knelt by Mercy's side.

"We..won"She mumbled,as Wood landed. "Could.. someone get those things out of here..."he muttered,helping Mercy to sit up.

Harry smiled. "We beat slytherin"

Hermione was running past Lupin,as she half tackled Mercy who yelped. "I'm..alright..'ermione..."she gasped. "Hermione..you're choking her.."Ron chuckled,as the girl blinked,letting go. "S..Sorry"she said.

Harry coudln't help but laugh, how worried he had been and how upset that his position of seeker was taken even momentarily by Mercy was all lifted at the sight of his friends and their victory against sltherin.


"Yeah, It's because of the Dementors," said Harry.

"Speaking of which..."Mercy said, as the creatures got closer to them. I can't use the patronus charm..I'll have to use..the other spell..she thought to herself, as she raised her wand, as she muttered something,and an invisible barrier formed, repeling the dementers.

"What did you just do?" asked Hermione, "It wasn't the patronus charm."
